A different way to think about pain

Pain is local. Resilience is systemic.

Your body is more connected than your appointments.

Tendons, fascia, cartilage, and joints respond to physical load—but also exist within a biological environment shaped by glucose regulation, body composition, nutrition, circulation, sleep, stress, and recovery.

That is why Lean Aging Wellness does not isolate massage from movement, or nutrition from performance. The Durable Body Method coordinates the factors you can influence into one intelligent plan.

Address the painful area without assuming the problem begins and ends there.
Build physical capacity while supporting the environment in which adaptation occurs.
Turn recommendations into practical, personalized daily actions.

The load + environment model

Two sides of tissue resilience.

Lasting progress depends on what your body is asked to do—and the conditions in which it must recover.

01 · Physical load

Build the body’s capacity.

  • Strength and tissue tolerance
  • Mobility and joint control
  • Movement mechanics
  • Training volume and progression
02 · Internal environment

Support how the body adapts.

  • Metabolic and cardiovascular health
  • Nutrition and body composition
  • Sleep and stress regulation
  • Recovery and healthy habits

Better movement today. Greater physical capacity for the years ahead.

Four integrated pillars

More than training. More than massage.

Each service has a distinct role. Together, they create a complete strategy for strength, comfort, metabolic health, and recovery.

Performance & Functional Fitness

Progressive strength, mobility, balance, corrective exercise, and carefully managed loading build the capacity to handle work, sport, travel, and everyday life.

Medical Massage & Recovery

Assessment-informed medical massage connects your history, movement presentation, tissue response, recovery demands, and exercise plan. This is goal-directed clinical work—not a routine, relaxation-only sequence.

Transformational Nutrition & Chef Support

Whole-person coaching integrates physical nutrition, psychology, and client-defined spirituality—then translates the strategy into practical meals, behavior, and chef-prepared support.

Lean Aging Wellness — Therapeutic Food, Crafted With Intention.

Evidence-Informed Herbal Wellness

Carefully selected botanical strategies may support sleep, stress resilience, healthy inflammatory balance, metabolic wellness, and recovery when appropriate for your health history.

The science of a durable body

Connective tissue does not operate separately from metabolism.

Primary human research has associated diabetes, central obesity, dyslipidemia, and related metabolic abnormalities with changes in tendon structure, plantar-fascia morphology, tendon healing, and certain patterns of osteoarthritis.

These findings do not mean metabolism causes every tissue problem. Age, genetics, injury history, occupation, and physical loading remain important. They do show why a complete longevity strategy should consider more than the location of pain.

Our interpretation: assess both the mechanical demands placed on the body and the broader health factors that may influence how it adapts and recovers.
Metabolic factors and Achilles calcification

A study of 433 adults found diabetes and hypercholesterolemia were independently associated with insertional calcific Achilles tendinopathy.

Diabetes and Achilles tendon abnormalities

Human research has linked type 2 diabetes with measurable Achilles tendon abnormalities, reinforcing the value of considering metabolic history alongside loading.

Central adiposity and knee-joint changes

Emerging imaging research suggests central obesity may be associated with knee osteoarthritis biomarkers independently of body mass index alone.

See the whole picture

We review your movement, strength, injury history, recovery, lifestyle, nutrition, goals, and medically identified risk factors.

02

Build one coordinated plan

Training, massage, nutrition, chef support, and botanical wellness are assigned clear roles based on your needs—not bundled for their own sake.

03

Measure and refine

We monitor response, adjust loading and recovery, and make the plan more precise as your capacity improves.

Meet the founder

Experience across the disciplines that shape recovery.

For more than two decades, Ron Kusek has helped people become stronger, move better, reduce excess body fat, and regain confidence in their bodies.

He created Lean Aging Wellness after seeing movement, pain, nutrition, stress, and metabolic health treated as separate concerns. The Durable Body Method brings his training in performance, corrective exercise, massage therapy, integrative health, culinary wellness, nutrition coaching, and herbal medicine into one coordinated system.

Common questions

Clarity before commitment.

Is this physical therapy or medical treatment?

No. Lean Aging Wellness provides integrative wellness, fitness, massage, nutrition, culinary, and herbal support within the practitioner’s scope. We do not diagnose or treat diabetes, metabolic syndrome, osteoarthritis, tendinopathy, or other diseases, and we coordinate or refer to licensed medical providers when appropriate.

Do I need all four services?

Not necessarily. The goal is coordination, not forcing every component into every plan. Your assessment determines which services are most relevant and how they should work together.

Can you work alongside my physician or physical therapist?

Yes. With your permission, the program can complement medical care or rehabilitation. Medical diagnoses, medication management, imaging, and disease treatment remain with your licensed healthcare team.

Who is the Signature program designed for?

It is best suited to adults 40+ who value highly personalized support, want to remain active, and are ready to work consistently on strength, movement, nutrition, recovery, and metabolic health.

Where are services offered?

Lean Aging Wellness focuses on West Los Angeles, including Marina del Rey, Playa Vista, Venice, Santa Monica, Culver City, West LA, Century City, Malibu, Calabasas, and nearby communities. Availability varies by service.
